Home to Minneapolis.
Because The Netherlands didn’t meet my expectations.
How far do you go on average?
On flat roads I average about 50 miles a day. Hills, rough surfaces and headwinds generally cut that down. Typically I try to take about 2 days a week “off”.
What’s this “Stealth” Camping?
There are three simple rules that explain “stealth” camping:
1. Find some place where no one will see or be bothered by you camping there.
2. Leave no trace.
3. If anyone is bothered by your having camped there, see rule 1 or rule 2.
Don’t you get lonely?
Yes. That’s why I talk to people when I stop, and I keep up with friends and family by phone, email and Facebook.
What do you do when it rains?
Get wet. I wear a rain jacket if it’s below 70F. I also wear rain pants if it’s below 60F. I put plastic bags on my feet, over my socks, inside my sandals when it’s below 50F. All this does is stop the wind and keep the dirty water from potholes and mud puddles on the outside; I still sweat because I’m working and the sweat keeps me wet on the inside.
